Upgrade of the Library Homepage: Empowering Learning, Research and Culture with the Smart Digital Platform
The smart digital service platform of the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) Library has undertaken a brand-new upgrade starting from today, and the official new homepage (https://lib.must.edu.mo) symbolizing this achievement has been officially launched. This upgrade is more than just an optimization of the front-end interface; it is a crucial step in driving services with smart technology and reshaping back-end processes based on user needs, aiming to provide more efficient, accurate and personalized support for learning, teaching and research, and opening a new chapter for the smart library.
Highlight One: Empowered by AI, Efficiently Access Academic Resources and Services
The new platform launches the academic resource query service "iMUST Search: The Voyage of Knowledge", which, while retaining the traditional keyword search service, deeply integrates MUST's new-generation AI intelligent agent - "Muster Search". Based on the library's authoritative academic databases, and with natural language understanding and multi-field intelligent search as tools, it allows users to query databases as intuitively and conveniently as having a conversation. Particularly noteworthy is that “Muster Search" not only allows users to easily search for books through conversations, but also innovatively supports direct book reservation, as well as access to full-text electronic resources. Meanwhile, it provides precise resource recommendations based on academic interests, just like a personal "academic assistant".
The platform also launches the 24/7 smart consultation assistant "Ask a Librarian" AI librarian. Whether it is querying opening hours, borrowing rules, booking discussion rooms, or looking for resources, users only need to ask in daily conversations, and the AI librarian can provide instant answers and recommend related services.
The Library continues to provide librarian support, and the AI librarian, "Muster Search" and manual services complement each other, jointly creating a smart digital service environment that is efficient, interactive, and full of humanistic care anytime and anywhere.
Highlight Two: Demand-Driven, High Integration of Diversified Data and Services
The new homepage restructures columns with user needs as the core. The University Library has conducted in-depth research on the actual needs of faculty and students throughout the entire life cycle of learning, teaching and research, and organically integrated core functional modules such as "Learning Services", "Teaching Support", "Literature Services", "Space Facilities", and "Research Support", with a clear layout and smooth flow. Whether it is browsing the library's resources and services comprehensively, or finding teaching reference materials, booking discussion rooms, applying for citation search service and searching collection resources, users can find what they need easily and intuitively.
To further enhance the user experience, the new homepage also plans six new content modules based on user behavior data and demand priority: "Popular Services", "Recent News", "iMUST InfoLit Series", "Online Exhibition", "Reading Recommendations", and "Special Collections", making information presentation more hierarchical and closer to daily use scenarios.
Through a data-driven dynamic adjustment mechanism, the platform achieves a personalized service experience, transforming the library from a resource provider into a smart assistant that can proactively understand needs and respond to expectations.
Highlight Three: Knowledge Navigation, Creating Personalized Services for Disciplines, Subjects, Teaching and Learning
This upgrade continues to deepen the library's transformation from a literature resource center to a knowledge service platform, strengthening knowledge discovery and personalized navigation functions, and launching a series of knowledge services:
• iMUST InfoLit Series: Integrates resources for improving information literacy and research capabilities, transforming implicit knowledge into learnable and usable academic skills through lectures, workshops and expert talks, and supporting lifelong learning.
• Personalized Reading Recommendations and Special Collection Digital Services: Combining smart recommendation algorithms and in-depth curation by librarians, the platform pushes academic resources that match users' research interests. The "Online Exhibition" and "Reading Recommendations" sections will continue to launch rich and diverse cultural topics, and combine with digital special resources such as "Global Mapping of Macao" and "Macau Image Gallery" to create an immersive knowledge exploration environment for users.
• Discipline Personalized Services and MUST Discipline Dynamic Briefings: Based on data analysis and visualization technology, the platform provides services such as discipline frontier trends, research hotspot scanning, research output and transformation, competitiveness portraits, and scholar academic influence analysis. In addition to serving individual disciplines, programs and researchers, these tools provide data-driven in-depth insights for college discipline planning and decision-making, helping identify research advantages and potential directions, and truly achieving the leap from "literature support" to "decision empowerment".
The smart digital platform of MUST Library is a treasure house of literature, as well as a smart hub that inspires creativity, supports innovation and inherits culture. From thematic exhibitions to reading recommendations, from iMUST InfoLit Series to discipline data analysis, the library is a traditional academic resource provider, and furthermore a smart partner in every faculty member and student's academic journey, ensuring that all users can obtain the most suitable knowledge support in every nodes of learning, teaching and research.
