"The Lotus Cup Reading Composition Competition"Launch Ceremony and Master Lecture Series

Macanese literature represents an awakening journey from the "periphery" toward "autonomy." In this lecture, 林中英 will offer an in-depth analysis of the evolution of Chinese-language literature in Macau: from the "transplanted" writings of Ming dynasty literati and officials who passed through as transient visitors, to the genuine "taking root" of local consciousness in the early twentieth century. Catalysed by a particular political environment, the new Chinese-language literature of Macau came into being, bearing witness to a literary transformation from early exploration and dependency to cultural awakening and independent self-determination. In addition to examining, from a broad perspective, how Macanese literature has established a distinctive cultural identity within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area, 林中英 will also return to her own rich creative viewpoint, sharing the profound insights and life experiences she has accumulated throughout her writing career.
